DRDA is established with an aim to develop villages mainly to carry out poverty eradication programs. For the organization, effectiveness, management, and proper care with a view of economic, social, and geographical situations, the drda is established at all district levels in the entire country.

DRDA is an autonomous body established under central government’s Registration of Societies Act 1860 and Bombay Public Trust Act 1950.

Under the grant of Govt of India and state govt poverty eradication program are done by them at taluka levels by IRD branch. DDO has charge of chairman of the agency, whereas state Administrative Service collective level person is appointed as director. Director is considered as chief administrative officer of the agency. Various efforts are made for wholesome development of villages by appointing officers / employees in all the fields of district development area such as farming, animal breeding financial aid , small business , forestation, etc.
